The Rangitane o Wairau Group:   Te Runanga a Rangitane o Wairau was first established in 1861 by Rangitane leaders as a forum for representing early land issues caused by landlessness amongst the Maori of Marlborough. Since then, Te Runanga a Rangitane o Wairau has continued to provide representation and advocacy for Rangitane iwi members across a range of social and political issues affecting Rangitane o Wairau, such as environmental, commercial, customary fisheries and discrete social services support. Rangitane o Wairau are now on the hunt for a Pou Ahurea/Cultural Advisor to join their close and collaborative team. Mo te turanga mahi - the role:   Reporting to the Tumu Whakahaere, the role of Pou Ahurea is to build the cultural confidence, competency and excellence of Rangitane o Wairau by developing, implementing and promoting the Mana Ahurea culture and language strategies in alignment with Tangata Rau Reo Kotahi (the Rangitane o Wairau Cultural and Language Revitalisation Strategy). Key accountabilities include: Lead, implement and deliver Tangata Rau and Reo Kotahi Create and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders Lead initiatives to support the sharing of the iwi's hitori, whakapapa, purakau and korero tuku iho Lead and foster to usage of Te Reo Maori Manage external funding requirements Represent the iwi on cultural matters Lead staff development in Te Reo Maori and tikanga Support the Pou Whakapa in the delivery of bi-lingual panui and communications Provide advice to the iwi on cultural and language matters Te Kaitono Pai - the ideal candidate:   You will have knowledge of and experience with working in iwi/Maori organisations and strong connections with whanau. You will have a good level of cultural competency and kaupapa Maori, te reo me ona tikanga, and relationships within te ao Maori. You will be innovative, possess strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and have an eye for detail. You will need to be well organised and flexible.
