Postdoctoral Fellow In Greenhouse Gases Emissions From Peat Soils

Details of the offer

Postdoctoral Fellow in Greenhouse Gases Emissions from Peat Soils at The University of Waikato, WellingtonThis position is fully funded for three years in an established team with a long history of expertise in eddy covariance approaches for farm scale assessments of greenhouse emissions. You will collect, analyse, and publish data on carbon balances of drained peat soils using the eddy covariance technique coupled to other carbon flows in grazed farming systems. You will also analyse and publish previously collected carbon balance data. Our specific interest is how emissions are controlled by water table and peat water dynamics. Data will be used by modelling collaborators to develop improved prediction of CO2 emissions from drained peats for national inventories.
Salary: The salary will be in the range of $92,794 to $98,425 pro-rated per year, based on skills, knowledge, and experience brought to the position.
Who are you? You will be experienced in fieldwork (including having a current driver's licence), have strong programming skills (preferably Matlab), excellent communication skills, and experience in either peatland or eddy covariance research. You will also be interested in contributing to undergraduate and graduate teaching opportunities. Ideally, this role will commence in January 2025.
