Work in Auckland and see why it is loved by so many:

Consistently ranks as one of the most liveable cities in the world
Highly diverse and multicultural Auckland (Tamaki Makaurau) has more than ethnic communities
Energetic nightlife, burgeoning restaurant scene, and an abundance of cultural and leisure activities
Experience the East and West Coasts of New Zealand (Aotearoa) within a short drive, and hike in the Hunua or Waitakere Ranges on your days off

You will have the opportunity to work alongside our passionate and knowledgeable senior Clinicians.
Each of the hospitals provides a supportive environment when it comes to teaching and education including journal clubs, tutorials, case-based teaching, X-Ray conferences, grand rounds, and community teaching.
Our rosters provide structured days off for improved work-life balance and the ability to spend time with friends, family, and all that New Zealand has to offer.
The Auckland Region is the largest centre for Paediatrics in New Zealand. Our hospitals provide care to children not only from the wider New Zealand but also a small number of cases from the neighbouring Pacific Islands.
Auckland is also a multicultural city with a wide variety of disease presentations and diverse family cultures.
Basic and Advanced Training Opportunities Available.
During your first 2-3 years as a basic trainee working in the Auckland Region, you will be able to develop your skills while allocated to general paediatrics and NICU rotations as well as some sub-specialty exposure (haematology/oncology, immunology/infectious diseases, cardiology, respiratory, neurology, renal, gastroenterology, endocrinology).
Advanced trainees working in the Auckland region are provided with a unique opportunity to work in Level 3 NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), PICU (Paediatric Intensive Care Unit), Te Puaruruhau (Child Protection / Abuse), Child Psychiatry, Child Emergency Department, Consult Liaison, and various medical sub-specialties.
All of our training sites offer runs which can be accredited to your basic and advanced training in Paediatrics with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).
Our training programme also provides trainees with the potential to work in Whangarei and Tauranga which is ideal for completing rural training requirements.
Enquiries about the Whangarei rotation can be directed to the RMO unit at Northland DHB. You will still need to apply to the Auckland Paediatric training scheme in the first instance.
