The Disability Support Services (DSS) Group works to ensure fair access to disability support services in New Zealand, prioritizing those with the greatest needs.
Through the DSS Review Programme, the Group is focused on implementing key recommendations to deliver consistent, equitable services, prioritize high-needs individuals, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of DSS, all while upholding Enabling Good Lives (EGL) principles.
Key Responsibilities: Contribute to the planning and development of disability services in collaboration with the disability community and service providers.Engage with disabled individuals and their communities to identify service delivery needs and gaps in existing and future services.Monitor and review contracts to ensure service delivery meets all requirements including quality, cost, standards, and service levels.Ensure service providers meet contract outcomes and performance expectations, proactively addressing any under-performance and implementing corrective actions.Respond to Ministerial requests, OIAs, and information provision in a timely and effective way.Build and maintain open, transparent, and effective relationships with service providers.We value diversity and welcome applications from disabled people and those who have lived experience with whanau, or the disability community.
This is a permanent opportunity based in Christchurch.
Minimum Requirements: Strong business acumen paired with excellent procurement and/or contract management skills.A strong understanding of the machinery of Government and the New Zealand disability sector.Experience in managing complex projects and service development initiatives.Excellent relationship management skills, with a focus on effective communication, trust-building, and conflict resolution.Ability to work independently with advanced administration, process, and systems knowledge.The ability to work collaboratively with disabled individuals, families, and service providers.The ability to proactively manage performance, ensuring service providers deliver high-quality outcomes that meet the needs and aspirations of the people they support.Enthusiasm and a positive attitude with the ability for problem solving within a complex environment.We anticipate placing this role between $94,000 - $128,500 however consideration will be given to the successful candidate's individual relevant skills, experience, and other factors to determine the actual starting salary.
