About The Team Our Technical Training team, within the Sector Workforce Development Group, designs and develops comprehensive technical training programmes that equip Transpower employees with the specialised skills and knowledge necessary to safely and effectively operate our National Grid assets. The team ensures our workforce is prepared to meet the current and future demands of the sector, thereby supporting the overall reliability and safety of our power system. The Trades team delivers specialised vocational training programmes focused on the maintenance of the Grid. By providing targeted, high-quality vocational training to Transpower service provider staff, this team ensures that all learners possess the critical skills and knowledge required to safely and efficiently handle grid development and maintenance operations. About The Role As our Portfolio Design Consultant, located in either our Wellington or Palmerston North office, you'll enjoy a varied role including: Designing the best training solution for multiple concurrent projects. Meeting with highly technical experts to extract their knowledge and consider how best to design training that maximises knowledge transfer and the learner experience. Collaborating across the whole Sector Workforce Development team and working directly with our Learner Experience developers. Designing solutions that are critical to building the capability of our people working with key systems, processes and tools used to deliver the management and operation of the New Zealand power and market systems. You'll support the Portfolio Manager - Trades and Senior Learning Designers, enjoying varied work and intellectually stimulating mahi. Ultimately this role will enable you to join a Category 1 Private Training Establishment and contribute to exciting change which will impact electricity sector training pathways for future generations. What will you bring? Drive, pace, and a passion for delivering a range of resources that engage and excite learners and enable them to accelerate their learning! We need someone with outstanding communication skills who enjoys hands-on design and can operationalise the Training and Learning Strategy. Electricity sector experience isn't essential, however your CV and cover letter will clearly demonstrate: A tertiary qualification in a related field and/ or equivalent experience e.g. Tertiary or Application provider certification in Adult Education. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with technical experts to extract information needed to design an appropriate solution for learners. Strong planning and organisational skills, balancing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Sound experience in creating photography or videography. Proven experience in developing teaching and learning resources that follow accepted adult learning principles across a range of delivery channels including eLearning development. Experience in assessment design and development. While not essential, the following experience would be a real advantage: Experience and an understanding of te ao Maori principles and their application in the workplace and/or education environment. Experience in a wide range of eLearning design tools to create interactive resources. Experience with assessment and moderation for NZQA.
