Why we're here - Ta matou tino Kaupapa
For over forty years Te Karere has been at the heart of Maori broadcasting bringing news in te reo Maori to our viewers daily. Our Te Karere team is responsible for providing a Maori perspective on important local, national and international issues.
The opportunity - Te turanga
We are hiring for a Political Reporter/ Producer - Te Karere. In this key role, you will report and set up interviews and other production tasks as required for Te Karere. Your focus will be on preparing and researching political stories which are of importance to te iwi Maori and te ao Maori.
Your key focus in this role will be on:

Deliver well-produced packages/stories in Maori on time and to a given duration.
Generate story ideas/angles and fresh treatments and exclusive stories.
Clearly communicate story requirements to the crew and co-ordinate the activities of the crew.
Perform live in the studio or field, as required.
Translate voice-overs and interviews to a standard that portrays correct grammar and punctuation to a non-Maori speaking audience.
Work in close partnership with the captioning team members.

What we're looking for - Ta matou e kimi nei
You'll be brimming with ideas and you'll have the ability to report and produce compelling, reliable and accurate stories for our television and digital audiences that represent the Maori perspective.
You must have a positive attitude, a passion for news and current affairs, and the ability to perform live on air.
You'll be a self-starter who knows what it's like to work in fast-paced news. Fluency and flair with te reo Maori is a must.
