It's an exciting time to join our Environmental Planning team as the region continues to grow and thrive. As a Unitary Authority, we take an integrated approach to planning. We're proud to provide high-quality resource management policy advice and services to Council and the Whakatu Nelson Community across a diverse and interesting portfolio of work. This includes freshwater, air quality, housing and urban development, infrastructure, heritage, natural hazards, adaptation, and the coastal marine area. The role is an exciting opportunity to be part of a great team that develops quality policy planning advice across a broad work portfolio.

You might be a newly qualified graduate or have a few years post-graduation experience under your belt – either way, we've got a supportive workplace for you to join and continue growing your career.
Relevant qualifications in Planning, Resource Management or a related field are essential.
You may also have relevant policy planning experience complemented by a working knowledge of the Resource Management Act. You'll enjoy actively working with iwi, engaging with the Nelson community and presenting clear information and feedback to Council.
Excellent communication skills, a customer-focused approach to public consultation, solution-focused mindset, and the ability to work collaboratively will set you up for success!

This is a permanent full-time role with a starting salary range between $79,000 - $93,000 depending on your skills and level of experience.
