At Manatu Hauora Ministry of Health, we are the kaitiaki of the health system, providing leadership and driving strategy and performance. We regulate the health sector and are the primary source of advice on health matters.
The Strategy Group works on a range of instruments that set the medium to longer-term vision, overall direction, aims, and objectives for the health and wellbeing of the people in New Zealand.
This role sits within the Strategy, Policy and Legislation directorate which is responsible for providing high-quality policy advice to the Ministers and government to inform their decisions on the health portfolio at a system level.
Ko ake mahi - What you'll do As Manager of the Health System Stewardship team, you will lead the development, planning, and implementation of specific strategies, and report on progress and results achieved.
You will provide leadership and management for projects, working with direct reports to ensure work is well planned and includes taking strategic and tactical approaches to achieve results.
You'll lead the work programme of your team to ensure maximum impact, supporting their development journeys and ensuring they have opportunities to engage in challenging, meaningful work.
Ko pukenga - What you'll bring Proven ability to lead system level policy advice that can lead to positive impact and shifts for the Health sector.
Experience in leading a team with senior staff and an ability to build and embed best practices for policy.
Demonstrable success in influencing, collaborating, and brokering with challenging stakeholders.
Solid understanding of the machinery of government and know how to collaborate to get things done.
Strong communication skills with an ability to make the complex simple.
Experience working with Maori on policy, service design, engagement, or governance is highly desirable.
Tertiary qualification in a health or relevant field and/or equivalent experience and significant policy experience.
