This is mahi that will improve the health and well-being of everyone in Aotearoa, and we've got an opportunity for you to be part of it.Te whiwhinga mahi| The OpportunityThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.We have an available opportunity to join the Te Manawa Taki Region, Planning, Policy and Performance team as a Policy and Equity Advisor.This permanent, full-time role will see the individual provide support to the policy work taking place across the region - utilising their knowledge on health equity to facilitate inter-agency and interdisciplinary. This will include supporting policy analysis and development across a broad range of areas and collaborating with stakeholders across the health system and sector, working to deliver strategic objectives and give effect to Pae Ora. The role can be located across the Te Manawa Taki region, including: New Plymouth, Kirikiriroa, Rotorua, Tauranga, Whakatane, or Tairawhiti.You are someone with two-three years' experience in health, local government or public sector and development, able to apply critical thinking and use sound judgement to develop options and provide guidance. You are able to work in partnership with various stakeholders, understand the geo- and socio-political environments and be able to apply approaches to produce effective policy submissions that demonstrate a consideration of equity.Has a minimum of 2-3 years' relevant experience in health or public sector/local government policyA Bachelors qualification or equivalent experience. A qualification in Public Health or Public Policy and/or project management certification is desirable but not essential.Understanding and experience working in partnership with iwi/ hapu, Maori, Pacific communities or other vulnerable groups.A commitment to being a good Te Tiriti partner in all your actions.
