We have an Advisor (Level 2) role available in the Courts Stewardship Team, where you will work with others to resolve complex and challenging issues, and manage relationships with key stakeholders. The Courts Stewardship Team was set up in 2022 to develop, test, and implement a best practice approach to regulatory stewardship in the courts and tribunals systems, with an eye to what will also work across the Ministry's other regulatory systems.
We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate:
Relationship skills: Are you self-aware and trustworthy, with a willingness to learn from others? Can you build and maintain relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders?Problem solving skills: Can you think analytically and critically? Do you find complex problems interesting, and have a knack for solving them?Communication skills: Are you an excellent communicator? Can you write clearly, in a way that simplifies complex information?Advisory skills: Do you ask questions to improve your understanding? Do you take initiative to go beyond the immediate task, and apply sound judgement?A legal or courts background, or experience with regulatory stewardship or legislative processes would be an advantage but is not required.

This Policy Unit strengthens trust in the laws of Aotearoa New Zealand by administering the legal frameworks, systems and policies that underpin courts and tribunals, family relationships, access to justice and the provision of legal services.
