Job OpportunitiesPermanent or Fixed Term to June 2025 opportunitiesPreference for Wellington location.The Ministry for the Environment is the Government's lead advisor on the environment and climate. We are seeking Advisors to join the Environmental Management and Adaptation Policy Group. Preference for Wellington location.
Within this policy group, you may work on policy and legislation as part of the Government's resource management or adaptation work programmes. The core tasks of an advisor focus on the use of data and research to inform the development of analysis and advice. Written advice could include memos to senior leaders, briefings or Cabinet papers for Ministers, and preparing responses to Official Information Act requests. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the reform of Aotearoa/New Zealand's resource management system.
Key ResponsibilitiesPossesses a basic understanding of the machinery of government, along with strong written and oral communication skills.Keen interest in policy development. Open to developing in the role and eager to learn.Capable of liaising and collaborating with policy experts and subject matter experts across the Ministry.Capable of working autonomously while also collaborating effectively.Some understanding of RMA policy and/or practice would be an advantage.Salary range for the role is Advisor - $79,598 to $96,372 p/a. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
