Our Policy Team is seeking an experienced Policy Advisor. In this rewarding and varied role, you will gather evidence, analyse policy issues, develop policy options, and prepare policy advice for defined policy issues while contributing to larger, more complex projects.
The role sits within our Strategy, Policy and Performance Directorate - the experts that develop and support implementation of organisational strategies, policies and processes to set, monitor, improve, and report on Pharmac's performance.
This is a real opportunity to be at the core of Pharmac's work - influencing our relationships with external agencies and participating in the machinery of government, all while shaping the future state of Pharmac through policy development.
Your high level of initiative, analytical ability, and problem-solving will be critical when presenting clear policy advice and options. Your ability to work with senior stakeholders will serve you well within this role.
Our ideal candidate would have: Work experience in policy development and a tertiary qualification in a relevant field.A sound understanding of the machinery of government.Up-to-date understanding of the health sector is desirable.Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to present information clearly and succinctly.Competency in problem-solving, conceptual thinking, and distillation of ideas into decision making.Personal maturity, diplomacy, and tactfulness.The ability to effectively manage relationships at all levels, including conveying Pharmac's position on policy issues persuasively.Understanding of te Tiriti o Waitangi and its role in relation to Government, Pharmac, and its operations.The role has a level of autonomy, and applicants will need to be self-driven to manage time-pressured work while also working as part of a team.

The appointment salary is subject to the preferred candidate's relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
