Tests can be completed virtually or at an NTN testing location.

Testing and Next Steps Physical Agility Test (WAPAT): Candidates must complete the Washington Physical Agility Test (WAPAT).
In-state candidates must take the test at an NTN location in Washington.
Out-of-state candidates can schedule a virtual WAPAT.
Background Investigation: After passing the exam, candidates will submit personal history information for a thorough background check.
Medical, Psychological, and Polygraph Exams: Candidates must pass medical and psychological evaluations and a polygraph test to be eligible for employment.
Candidates who successfully pass all stages will receive a final offer of employment.
Qualifications Age: At least 20.5 years old.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen, have legal permanent residency, or be a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient.
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Driving Record: A valid Washington State driver's license is required prior to hire.
Drug Use: Candidates must meet specific drug use criteria, including no marijuana use within 12 months of the exam, and no use of other prohibited substances within the specified time frames.
Criminal Record: Any adult felony conviction, domestic violence conviction, or certain misdemeanors may disqualify applicants.
Additional Information Preference points may be awarded for military experience, multilingual abilities, prior community service, or work as a Police Reserve.

Responsibilities: Maintain public safety, respond to emergencies, enforce laws, and promote positive community relations.
Operate patrol cars, investigate crimes, collect evidence, and arrest suspects.
