As a City of Salem Police Officer, you will patrol assigned areas, enforce laws and ordinances, respond to citizen complaints, investigate crimes and accidents, write reports, and preserve evidence. Additionally, you will engage with the public, attend community meetings, and provide safety information.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must pass the National Testing Network (NTN) Frontline National Test and submit valid results.Successfully complete the Oregon Physical Agility Test (ORPAT) with a passing time of 6:30 or less.Must be at least 21 years old at the date of hire.Be a U.S. citizen or have the ability to attain citizenship within 18 months of hire.Possess a high school diploma or GED.Hold a valid Oregon class C driver's license (or equivalent) and meet the City of Salem's driving standards.Must pass pre-employment drug screening, including marijuana.Must pass a background check, medical exam, and psychological assessment.Be willing to work overtime, rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends.Selection Process:
To be considered, applicants must complete the NTN test, ORPAT, and submit valid scores. Successful candidates will undergo an interview process, and those who receive a conditional job offer must pass a background investigation, medical and psychological exams, and drug testing.
