Planning Administrator

Details of the offer

Planning Administrator
Port Otago Group's business comprises a regional container terminal, bulk port activities, cruise and property investment and development. We service South Canterbury, Otago, and Southland, working with customers to streamline their supply chains. Our culture is hands-on, safety focused and encourages continuous improvement.
About the role:
Reporting through to our Marine Planner, we have an exciting opportunity for a Planning Administrator to join our Marine & Infrastructure team on a permanent full-time basis in our newly built, vibrant, and collaborative Head Office in beautiful Port Chalmers.
This is not your typical Monday to Friday position. The Port operates 24/7, and for this role we are looking for someone to work 40 hours per week Wednesday through to Sunday.
What your day could look like:
Your main area of responsibility will be to use electronic database systems and use effective forecasting methods to ensure our Marine floating plant and resources can deliver timely and effective services for our customers.
To do this effectively you'll be someone who has an eye to the future and can forecast well, you'll be a natural at following rules and processes and be comfortable using systems to complete your work. Ultimately the work you do will ensure that our people resources are allocated to deliver timely and effective services to our customers (shipping lines).
Over time you'll become one of our subject matter experts for roster issues and will be a key point of contact for our Marine supervisors and leaders for all their queries about our workforce planning system. Like any system, we need to make sure ours stays current and keeps up to date with improvements – you'll have an opportunity to get involved in suggesting improvements, testing system changes, implementing those changes and supporting/training other systems users. You will also provide general administrative support to our Marine Team on a day-to-day basis.
About you:
You'll be joining a supportive and collaborative team who thrive working in a fast-paced and often reactive environment. You'll be the type of person who has a fix-forward attitude, loves getting stuck in to solve problems in a practical way, and who is a master of juggling multiple priorities. But above all else you'll have a positive attitude, resilience, and plenty of initiative.
Key to your success in this role includes:

A logical and structured approach to your work
Can get along and communicate well with a wide range of people
Is proactive, organised and can cope well with change
Has advanced skills in word and excel, and is comfortable and is also experienced analysing data sets
Has high levels of accuracy and attention to detail, while remaining efficient
Has the ability to see the big picture, assess risk and requirements and form great solutions
Ideally has some workforce or other planning/allocation experience – but this isn't essential for the right applicant

What's in it for you?
In return, you can look forward to working for a successful company which prides itself on continually striving to improve performance; this enables our people to contribute in a way that makes a difference and for us to reward our people for their contributions.
You will also be entitled to comprehensive health insurance cover for you, your partner, and any dependent children (worth approx. $4k per annum), as well as a 7% employer superannuation contribution.
Contribution towards relocation costs to Dunedin are also on offer for our successful candidate. Not to mention the amazing views of the Otago Harbour!
Heads up:

A full clean NZ Driver's license is essential
You must be able to pass Ministry of Justice, ACC checks and a medical which includes a drug and alcohol test as part of our recruitment process
Random drug and alcohol testing

How do I apply? Please apply online by 5pm, Monday 4th of November 2024 with a current CV and cover letter, via our Port Otago Careers website www.portotago.co.nz/careers to ensure our Port Otago Application Form is completed.
