Permanent full time 40 hours per week role Exciting opportunity for your career growth be our first Advanced Practitioner Physiotherapist in the North Island Sarcoma Service The role is based in North Island Sarcoma Service, based at Te Toka Tumai Auckland, Auckland City Hospital The role also has a number of key relationships with various senior level clinical, cultural, management and professional positions within the organisation and across wider services within the North Island. Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity This is an excellent opportunity for an expert level practitioner to demonstrate their highly advanced clinical and leadership skills within the North Island Sarcoma Service. In this role you will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive rehabilitation service for patients and their whanau diagnosed with sarcoma. You will model a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equitable outcomes, transdisciplinary practice, acting as the lead practitioner for an allied health team comprising Senior and Advanced Clinician Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff, providing education, training and clinical oversight, aligning service delivery with national and international best practice models. You will also work collaboratively with the wider North Island Sarcoma Service multidisciplinary team members, including medical, nursing, youth health and psychology disciplines, to develop and maintain high quality service delivery in line with operational and strategic direction.
You will apply expert level clinical interventions to patients across the cancer care continuum, including diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship phase to determine appropriate interventions and rehabilitation programmes to minimise the impact of their sarcoma and treatment on their independence, function, occupational performance, participation in valued life roles, community engagement and quality of life. You will develop and maintain strong links with rehabilitation providers across the North Island to support excellent clinical input and seamless transitions for patients and whanau between inpatient and outpatient settings.
The main roles and responsibilities will be:
Acting as an expert clinical resource providing guidance, advice and education to patients/clients, family, whanau, students, staff and the inter-professional team within the North Island Sarcoma Service. Demonstrate strategic leadership in the development of relevant service plans, including models of care/practice across the continuum of allied health service delivery and diagnostic groups that consider patient and whanau needs across the lifespan. Develop international networks within sarcoma. Role model, enhance and promote innovation and expert practice, leading the development of the allied health professions locally, regionally and nationally. Apply expert knowledge and clinical reasoning while modelling evidence-based practice. Maintain expert clinical competencies specific to the needs of the North Island Sarcoma Service, the position, the profession and specific registering authority requirements. Direct and use the results of specialist investigations to assist the formulation of diagnosis and plan patient management, alongside other senior health practitioners (e.g. Nurse Specialists, medical professionals). Identify and lead the implementation of opportunities to improve health outcomes for Maori and Pacific people's populations within the Regional Sarcoma Service. Lead the development of local, regional and national evidence based clinical policies, procedures and best practice within the North Island Sarcoma Service. Lead, facilitate and demonstrate commitment to continuous high quality improvement activities utilising contemporary methodologies locally, regionally and nationally. Nga Pukenga Motuhake | Important Skills A recognised tertiary Allied Health qualification New Zealand registration and current annual practising certificate A commitment to uphold Te Toka Tumai Auckland obligations to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to achieving equitable outcomes for Maori A commitment to equitable outcomes for Pacific Peoples and other identified communities. Relevant post - qualification clinical Master's degree or equivalent Proven clinical leadership expertise within the area of specialty Experience providing adult teaching and knowledge of principles of adult learning Significant experience in practice and policy development Experience leading clinical research, audit and evaluation Membership of professional association and/or college Experience in project management As the ideal person for this role, you will be able to:

The remuneration for this position is covered by a collective agreement (PSA Allied, Public Health Scientific Technical MECA)
Salary Range: DCO-DC-03 ($127 720) – DCO-DD-03 ($132 870) (Depending on experience)
