In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive rehabilitation service for patients and their whanau diagnosed with sarcoma. You will model a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equitable outcomes, and transdisciplinary practice, acting as the lead practitioner for an allied health team comprising Senior and Advanced Clinician Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy staff, providing education, training, and clinical oversight, aligning service delivery with national and international best practice models. You will also work collaboratively with the wider North Island Sarcoma Service multidisciplinary team members, including medical, nursing, youth health, and psychology disciplines, to develop and maintain high-quality service delivery in line with operational and strategic direction.You will apply expert level clinical interventions to patients across the cancer care continuum, including diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship phases to determine appropriate interventions and rehabilitation programmes to minimise the impact of their sarcoma and treatment on their independence, function, occupational performance, participation in valued life roles, community engagement, and quality of life. You will develop and maintain strong links with rehabilitation providers across the North Island to support excellent clinical input and seamless transitions for patients and whanau between inpatient and outpatient settings.The main roles and responsibilities will be:Acting as an expert clinical resource providing guidance, advice, and education to patients/clients, family, whanau, students, staff, and the inter-professional team within the North Island Sarcoma Service.Demonstrating strategic leadership in the development of relevant service plans, including models of care/practice across the continuum of allied health service delivery and diagnostic groups that consider patient and whanau needs across the lifespan.Developing international networks within sarcoma.Role modeling, enhancing, and promoting innovation and expert practice, leading the development of the allied health professions locally, regionally, and nationally.Applying expert knowledge and clinical reasoning while modeling evidence-based practice.Maintaining expert clinical competencies specific to the needs of the North Island Sarcoma Service, the position, the profession, and specific registering authority requirements.Directing and using the results of specialist investigations to assist the formulation of diagnosis and plan patient management, alongside other senior health practitioners (e.g., Nurse Specialists, medical professionals).Identifying and leading the implementation of opportunities to improve health outcomes for Maori and Pacific peoples within the Regional Sarcoma Service.Leading the development of local, regional, and national evidence-based clinical policies, procedures, and best practices within the North Island Sarcoma Service.Leading, facilitating, and demonstrating commitment to continuous high-quality improvement activities utilizing contemporary methodologies locally, regionally, and nationally.Minimum Requirements:A recognised tertiary Allied Health qualificationNew Zealand registration and current annual practising certificateA commitment to uphold Te Toka Tumai Auckland obligations to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to achieving equitable outcomes for MaoriA commitment to equitable outcomes for Pacific Peoples and other identified communities.Relevant post-qualification clinical Master's degree or equivalentProven clinical leadership expertise within the area of specialtyExperience providing adult teaching and knowledge of principles of adult learningSignificant experience in practice and policy developmentExperience leading clinical research, audit, and evaluationMembership of professional association and/or collegeExperience in project managementAs the ideal person for this role, you will be able to:Demonstrate advanced interpersonal and communication skillsDemonstrate high standards of clinical practiceBe resourceful and resilient; able to apply critical thinking to solve complex problemsDemonstrate an ability to work constructively with others to resolve conflictBe strengths-based, outcome, and solution-focusedBe a team player, reliable, and responsiveBe flexible and adaptable, able to help lead changeFor more information about this role please contact Sarah Edwards (Service Clinical Director Allied Health) on ****** or Gloria Paterson, Physiotherapy Professional Leader on ****** are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland.
