Anwyl Specialist Medical Centre is one of the largest providers of phototherapy services in NZ. We are a small, but very busy clinic.
You will join the Dermatology Team of Dermatologist, General Practitioner, Health Care Assistants and Photo-therapist.
We would like to hire a smart compassionate person with a passion for dermatology who can assist us in treating our patients. The position might suit a registered nurse, enrolled nurse, or allied health professional, but we will consider any applicant with the necessary qualities of compassion, intelligence, diligence and integrity. The work requires computer skills, accuracy, the ability to communicate well, and the ability to do mathematical calculations. We will provide training in phototherapy and expect you to develop expertise in this area. You will also be assisting in local anesthetic surgical procedures, removing sutures, and providing wound care. Depending on the candidate we may expand the role to include other activities. We do not provide a cosmetic dermatology service.
The hours will be 8am - midday Mondays, Tuesdays and Saturdays; 1pm - 7pm Thursdays and 8am - 7pm Fridays. There is some wriggle room to expand or contract those hours.
The hourly rate is based on the Primary Health Care MECA. Experience in assisting with local anaesthetic procedures, sterilization of instruments, and removal of stitches and wound care will be taken into account, but these tasks are not the main part of the job. The main task is the provision of phototherapy services, and for this you will be trained on the job, and we expect you might take 3 months to achieve a minimum level of competency.
You should have:
Nurses and other health professionals should have appropriate professional Registration and current annual practicing certificate
The ability to upskill quickly
Excellent teamwork skills
Enthusiasm and compassion in abundance
