An opportunity for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to cover this designated position
As one of the largest tertiary teaching hospitals in New Zealand, work as a pharmacy technician offers a variety of tasks and responsibilities. Working as a part of the Pharmacy Service, this position's primary focus will on be supporting the development, delivery, and monitoring of Cold Chain processes and within the organisation to ensure the Ministry of Health's cold chain standards are met. This includes ensuring that all wards/areas that store vaccine achieve cold chain accreditation.
Working in our Inpatient Pharmacy, you will dedicate (0.5 FTE) 20 hours each week, supporting all areas within our organisation to achieve CCA of their medication fridges. The remaining FTE will be for core Pharmacy Technician duties, enabling medication supply from the Inpatient Dispensary at Middlemore Hospital.
This is an opportunity for the successful candidate to build on their existing knowledge of cold-chain processes and develop expertise in this area. Previous hospital experience is preferred. Demonstrated experience in cold chain management would be advantageous but not necessary as training will be provided. We provide an environment where innovative new ideas and methods of working are encouraged. Daily duties will include:
Providing support/training to the wards and pharmacy department for the monitoring and maintenance of the Counties Manukau centralised temperature monitoring system
Monitoring wards/areas the store refrigerated pharmaceuticals against national cold chain standards and relevant Counties Manukau policies
Auditing, collaboration, answering fridge queries, problem solving and reporting Essential for this position:
Advanced knowledge in cold chain monitoring and management, provides advice in complex cold chain management
Ability to work directly with staff in ward/areas as an expert resource in cold chain
Minimum qualification held - National Certificate in Pharmacy (Pharmacy Technician) level 5 issued by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority.
Expected to successfully complete the Unitec Course - EDU4098: Using Standards to Assess Candidate Performance (Level 4) in the first three months.
Attention to detail as accuracy is critical
Efficient
Ability to use excel and other computer software for temperature monitoring is essential.

Available to work flexible hours including rostered weekends
