Established in 2018, Summit Contracting Limited is made up of a team of experienced staff who are passionate about biosecurity and conservation in New Zealand.
We are looking to expand this team and are seeking individuals who are keen to have a career in the great outdoors.Based in Te Anau and Alexandra, Summit Contracting Limited offers a variety of Pest Control and Conservation services from small scale possum ground control to large scale vector control and survey, ungulate control and complete eradication.Though based in Alexandra and Te Anau, our work is in various areas in the lower South Island so there is no requirement for successful candidates to live in Te Anau or Alexandra.
Most contracts require staff to 'stay away' for 10 days with 4 days off.
Accommodation will be provided while you are away for work.Responsibilities:A successful Pest Operative will possess the following skills and attributes:Hard working, determined, honest and reliableAn above average level of fitnessOutdoors enthusiast from an agricultural and/or hunting backgroundThe ability to communicate with a diverse range of peopleAbility to remain calm in stressful situations and maintain a positive attitudeA strong commitment to health and safetyThrive in a hardworking positive team environmentThe ability to stay away from homeQualifications:Ideally, the successful applicant will have some experience and have the following qualifications, however, there will be opportunities for attaining necessary qualifications as an employee:Current Controlled Substance LicenseNZ Certificate in Pest Operations (Level 3)4WD Driver Training QualificationUnit Standards in Quad, LUV, Two Wheel MotorcyclesUnit Standards in GPS and Outdoor NavigationUnit Standards in Chainsaw OperationNew Zealand Firearms LicenseNew Zealand Drivers LicenseThis is a physically demanding role working in the great outdoors with all of its conditions and weather etc.
