Performance and Technique Analyst

High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ) is seeking a new member of the Performance and Technique Analysis (PTA) team. Based in Wanaka, the successful candidate will work in partnership with Snow Sports New Zealand (SSNZ) to provide best practice Performance and Technique Analysis support. Priority campaigns span the range of Olympic Park & Pipe disciplines, as well as Olympic and Paralympic Alpine disciplines.

PTA is a broad role requiring skills in biomechanics, performance analysis, project oversight, and innovative practice. Awareness of athlete and coach needs are requirements of success. Specific snow sport experience desired but not mandatory.

This role is accountable for performance profiling and competition analysis including sport progression and in-event strategy. You will be involved in regular on-snow support services, in both training and competition settings, to ensure reliable video capture and distribution, live analysis, plus wearable device management. Performance data set creation, management, analysis, and visualisation is required for effective decision making with both short- and long-term foci.

Alongside key task delivery, you will bring an analytical lens into performance conversations to help facilitate objective decision making and planning. Strong working relationships, and alignment with, key decision makers (coaches and performance director) is a requirement for success in this role.

Snow Sports NZ has an ongoing focus on equipment and systems innovation. The successful candidate will be a key collaborator in such projects.

This will be a collaborative role operating within a small and close performance support team. Therefore, the ability to work in a team setting, and build and maintain robust relationships is critical. Experience working in high-performance sport is desired, as is the ability to work autonomously. To carry out required duties successful candidates will be expected to be capable on skis/board.

Candidates should understand and have previous experience in the effective delivery of biomechanics and performance analysis support to high performance programmes. Skills in data management, performance modelling, coding languages and or data visualization tools will be an advantage. Candidates are expected to have a degree (or higher) in sports science, engineering, or related science.

The successful candidate may be required to provide support regionally and internationally at competitions and training camps.
