If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!You will lead an established team, made up of self-motivated professionals covering the following disciplines: People and Culture (P&C), Health and Safety (H&S), Learning and Development, Organisation Development and Recruitment.You will work with Group Managers and various departments to achieve People and Culture (P&C) and Health and Safety (H&S) organisational objectives.
Some of the key areas you will be focused on are:Strategic Planning & Change Management: Drive the development and implementation of innovative People & Culture (P&C) and Health & Safety (H&S) strategies that align with NRC's values and future needs.
Lead organisational change initiatives with cutting-edge models and techniques.
Actively participate in the scoping and implementation of the council's Maori Employment Outcomes Framework.Operational Excellence & Compliance: Ensure our P&C / H&S team delivers top-notch, professional, and legally compliant services.
Provide essential support and training to our leadership team, managers, and staff.Remuneration & Reward: Manage NRC remuneration process and budgeting oversight for employee related costs.Professional Development & Employment Relations: Foster a culture of continuous improvement with performance appraisals, targeted training, and robust succession plans.
Resolve employment relations issues swiftly and ensure legal compliance.Budget & Project Management: Oversee and manage P&C and H&S budgets, ensuring every dollar is well spent.
Lead strategic projects to successful completion, on time and to the highest standards.Do You Have What It Takes?This role is perfect for someone with a sense of energy, and a down-to-earth style with a great sense of humour.
You should be able to translate strategy into operational plans and possess highly developed negotiation and communication skills.
In addition, the ideal candidate will possess:A degree in Human Resources Management or a similar field.Minimum of 10 years in a generalist P&C and H&S management role with general business experience.Excellent understanding of Health & Safety requirements in the workplace.Comprehensive knowledge of NZ Employment Law and relevant legislation.Considerable experience across most P&C disciplines and responsibilities.Understanding and commitment to Te Tiriti partnership principles and te ao Maori.Budget and financial management experience.Experience in strategy development and implementation.Proficiency in change management.Sound general business knowledge and understanding of external influences, ideally with a background in councils or wider public sector.What's next?Our culture is the core of NRC.
