Te Haeata | The Opportunity The Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board (Board) has an exciting opportunity for a sole charge People and Capability Lead to join their small but mighty team and lead their people function. This is a part-time (24 hours per week) permanent role. Mo te tunga | About the role As the People and Capability Lead, you'll work closely with the Chief Executive and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to provide proactive people advice and support to enable the Board to meet its strategic objectives, including through developing and delivering people strategies and related plans and initiatives. You'll support the development of the desired culture, including through continuing to embed the values and will provide advice, support and coaching to the Chief Executive and SLT to help build high performing leaders and teams. You'll also ensure the successful delivery of all operational elements of the kaimahi experience ranging from recruitment and induction, through to talent and change management and performance and growth. Key duties and responsibilities include: Developing and delivering people and related strategies (e.g. diversity, equity and inclusion and employee value proposition) and related plans/initiatives. Leading and promoting initiatives that improve the kaimahi experience and engagement levels. Supporting and influencing the Chief Executive and SLT in all people matters. Delivering and/or supporting the delivery of all operational elements of the kaimahi experience after creating an HR programme of work, including recruitment and induction, reward and recognition, performance and growth, health safety and wellbeing, employment relations, policies and processes and talent and change management. Running training for kaimahi to support an excellent kaimahi experience. Continuous improvement of the people function. Ko wai tatou | Who are we? The Board is responsible for regulating plumbers, gasfitters and drainlayers and self-contained vehicles (campervans) in Aotearoa. We register and licence practitioners, set minimum standards of competency, investigate complaints, and, where necessary, bring disciplinary proceedings and prosecutions. Mohou ake | About you Our ideal candidate will have: A tertiary qualification in HR or a related field. Proven experience in a senior people role (typically 5+ years' experience) ideally in a sole charge role. Experience working with senior leaders, including Chief Executives. Experience in a wide range of people disciplines. Strategic thinking skills along with a keenness to get stuck in operationally. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organisational and time management skills. A solid understanding of NZ employment law and experience managing ER matters. Able to easily build and maintain productive and effective relationships with a wide range of people. A commitment to delivering and excellence. Empathy, coaching and facilitation skills. Developing knowledge and understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi tikanga and cultural safety.
