Mo te turanga | About the role Our Peer Support Worker role is a great opportunity to work face-to-face with whanau who have or are experiencing homelessness. As a Peer Support Worker, you will provide crucial support to individuals and families facing housing instability. Your lived experience and empathy will be vital in helping clients navigate housing systems, and secure stable housing. This is a grassroots role that requires a strong commitment to equity and social justice, aiming to reduce disparities and improve outcomes for vulnerable whanau.
Do you have personal experience with housing challenges and are passionate about using your story to support others facing similar circumstances, and the ability to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds, offering clear, empathetic communication while respecting their dignity.
The skills and experience we are looking for include: Experience working collaboratively with others, including housing providers, case managers, and social service agencies.Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, with a focus on cultural humility and responsiveness.Provide accurate, reliable, and timely reporting as requested by the line manager.Help clients set and track housing-related goals, regularly checking in to assess progress and offer ongoing support.Demonstrated experience in community outreach, social work, or working with vulnerable populations, especially the homeless.Skills and experience we are looking for include: The lived experience of homelessness is required.Working in the community in a support role would be advantageous.A clean, current car driver's full license required.Good interpersonal skills.He aha tau e whiwhi ai? | What's in it for you?
