This role is to provide essential support across Haeata operations (kitchen, dining hall, back of house, laneway, and delivery areas) where required. Additionally, the Shift Lead responsibilities of this role carried out on weekends/public holidays will see you lead and oversee the operation of Haeata. This is achieved through lived experience and valuable insights to enhance peer networks amongst the community we serve.

Duties Lead and oversee the Haeata service from shift preparation through to the end of service day.In partnership with Front of House and Hub, engage with whanau clients when they arrive in the laneway.Talk with the whanau clients about their situations to understand their needs and ensure this information is recorded in Recordbase.Manage any incidents as they arise.Constructively participate as part of the Maori Development Services, committed to maintaining a positive work environment with co-workers.Skills & Experience Peer Support qualification or equivalent lived experience with homelessness, hardship, and/or drug and alcohol addiction.Full clean New Zealand Drivers Licence.Ability to engage effectively with whanau clients, peers, staff, and external stakeholders.Commitment to embodying the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi in organisational practice.Willingness to advocate for indigenous equity and social equality.Skills, experience and knowledge may also be obtained from a number of different experiences. For example, from paid work, voluntary work, work undertaken within your Church, Marae, or from specific iwi/whanau responsibilities. Over the past 12 months, the Mission has provided 200 people with permanent homes, conducted over 20,000 consultations at the Calder Health Centre in HomeGround, cared for 462 people in our residential social detox facility in HomeGround, distributed almost 50,000 food parcels to families and individuals, and served over 80,000 warm meals in our community dining room, Haeata.
