We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to work part-time (20 hours p/wk) in our finance and administration team. We require a reliable, conscientious professional to manage and execute our school's payroll.
Key responsibilities:
Process payroll transactions accurately and on time.
Compliance with NZ payroll regulations.
Maintain confidential payroll records and prepare relevant reports.
Respond to payroll-related queries from staff and management.
Stay updated with changes in payroll legislation and best practices.
Qualifications:
Previous experience with the complexities of school payroll is desirable. Sound knowledge of NZ employment legislation (Holidays Act, KiwiSaver, PAYE) and school collective agreements.
Competence with computer applications i.e. Kamar, Excel, Education Payroll, Payroll Toolkit, Xero, etc.
Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to form positive working relationships.
The ability to identify issues as they are presented and ensure the next steps are actioned.
Excellent organisational skills, with a methodical and systematic approach to your work.
Basic maths skills and financial acumen.
Strong administrative skills, with attention to detail.
The ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
The ability to be adaptable and capable of multi-tasking.
Can maintain a high level of confidentiality.
This is a permanent position for 5 days a week, 20 hours per week, term-time only.
Pay rate: Grade 4 of the Administrative Support Staff pay scale. Hourly rate depending on experience and qualifications. The terms and conditions of employment will be those set out in the Support Staff in Schools' Collective Agreement.
