We are looking for a person who can assist our teams to ensure that we continue to provide a welcoming and safe environment for the Inpatient Mental Health Unit at Nelson Hospital. As a Patient Support and Security Worker, you will focus on working with staff to best meet the needs of patients and their whanau accessing our services.
The hours of work are 3.00 PM to 11.00 PM Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.However, from time-to-time you may be required to work an alternative shift to help meet service needs.
Commencing salary is dependent on NZQA qualifications and experience from $23.50/hr - with no relevant NZQA qualification, through to $28.18/hr with a relevant NZQA Level 3 qualification.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying. Ko wai he kaitono totika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?) You will be the type of person who works in a rational and calm manner and who has the skills and experience to effectively de-escalate difficult situations and promote a safe and therapeutic environment. You will be able to relate well to patients and their visitors. You will be able to work with the clinical team and follow directions.
Previous experience in security, or a related industry is preferred. However, this is not essential as training will be provided.
