This role will be directly employed by South Wight Medical Practice.
We are looking to recruit a friendly, enthusiastic, and hard-working Patient Advisor to join our team. Our Advisers are trained to provide healthcare navigation and signposting in order to best meet our patient needs. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of medical terminology, should be highly motivated and able to work under pressure and must have excellent communication skills and a can-do attitude to carry out their duties.
Our Advisors are a vital part of the Practice team as the link between our patients and the practice. The role involves dealing with patient queries both face-to-face, as well as on the telephone, along with other administrative duties relevant to the role.
Basiccomputer skills, and the ability to be flexible are essential, as is your owntransport as you will be expected to work across all three sites . GeneralPractice experience is desirable but not essential as training will beprovided.

Main duties of the job JobSummary :
To receive, assist and direct patients in accessing theappropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient andeffective way to the satisfaction of both the partners and patients.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project apositive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person orvia the telephone.
MainPurpose of post:
To provide and maintain a point of contact for patients, otherhealth service professionals and visitors and to act as a focal point ofcommunication between patients, doctors and other medical staff; also toprovide clerical support and operate the practice computerised patient records system and to competently use Microsoft 365.
About us South WightMedical Practice is a rural, dispensing GP Practice on the Isle of Wight. Wework between three sites in the villages of Godshill, Niton and Brighstone andserve a population of just over 6000 patients. The practice is proud to be atthe heart of the community offering GP led care provided by amulti-disciplinary team.
Job responsibilities Main Duties and Responsibilities of the Post:
Dealing with Patients
Be a first point of contact for patients both face to face and on the telephone, documenting as necessary
Managing the appointments system; booking, amending and cancelling appointments and dealing with home visit requests in line with practice protocol
Managing patients enquiries and giving simple advice or signposting to the appropriate service.
Administration
Managing the filing system
Accurately recording information on the computer database
Liaising with other Health Care professionals
Handling patient registrations and adding them to the computer system
Dealing with incoming mail/emails including electronic consultations appropriately and in a timely manner
Checking SystmOne tasks and processing accordingly
Dealing with incoming hospital results in a timely manner
Prioritising workload and using judgement and experience to determine the relevant urgency
Communication
Establishing and maintaining effective lines of communication with the GPs and Practice Manager as well as communicating clearly and effectively with colleagues to aid the smooth running of the Practice
Communicate with patients in a sensitive, professional and appropriate manner
Opening and closing the practice premises and checking security, in line with practice protocol
Ensuring GPs rooms are ready for the working day
Tidying and re-stocking consulting rooms with leaflets as necessary
Ensuring the reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy
Maintain a tidy and professional work space
Health and Safety:
Carrying out Health & Safety checks as required
To observe Health & Safety policies within the Practice
Assisting in promoting and maintaining both their own and others Health & Safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & Safety Policy, to include:
Using personal security systems within the workplace according to Practice guidelines.
Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks.
Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills
Using appropriate infection control procedures, maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards.
