Wonderful company culture – our colleagues are at the heart of all we do Excellent training with the opportunity to build a successful career Fun work environment A competitive salary, starting from $72,000 per annum Extensive benefits package including health, paramedical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance for those meeting eligibility requirements Company-matched pension plan and ability to enroll in the Group Complimentary hotel stay for newly hired employees with breakfast for two through BE OUR GUEST program Complimentary meals through our Colleague Dining Program Travel reimbursement program for a Translink Monthly pass Annual $250 Lifestyle Credit program for managers Employee benefit card offering discounted rates in Accor worldwide for you and your family Learning programs & educational assistance through our Academies designed to sharpen your skills Ability to make a difference through our Corporate Social Responsibility activities Career development opportunities with national and international promotion opportunities What you will be doing: Review the daily operations with the pastry team, prepare the necessary food items in accordance with Fairmont standards in a timely and efficient manner Conduct daily shift briefings with pastry team members Effectively manage food costs and production control to reduce wastage Supervise, provide guidance and training to pastry team in all food preparation and execution of the events Assist with creating menus, recipes, pictures and training materials to ensure consistency and efficiency to meet the set standards Lead the charge on all Fairmont standards, train employees on menus and cooking procedures Kitchen maintenance and cleaning, following food safety requirements Maintaining proper rotation of product in all chillers to minimize spoilage Follow all safety and sanitation policies when handling food Ensure that all food products are handled, stored, prepared and served safely in accordance with hotel and Food Safety guidelines, including daily temperature logs, labeling and dating of items, and cleaning food storage areas daily Food preparation and cooking, plating, presentation Apply 5 Diamond and 5 Star Service Standards at all times Qualifications Your experience and skills include: Previous experience in both luxury hotel and restaurant environment is an asset Strong knowledge of Chocolate work and design Strong knowledge of restaurant dessert design Creative and passionate about food and customer service Is a self-starter and displays initiative and curiosity for all food related items Able to give clear direction, set expectations and provide training to team members Able to work without supervision and display sound decision-making skills Ability to read, understand and follow recipes within the guidelines Ability to read a prep list and determine the sequence of order for job completion Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time efficiently to ensure job completion Strong organization skills Ability to listen and follow directions precisely to achieve the end result Stays current & knowledgeable of both local and global cuisine trends, applying those into our offerings Able to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; a team player Completion of a recognized culinary program Must be Food Safe Certified A neat, well-groomed appearance as per hotel standards Must be available to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays Career-minded with strong personal initiative and a desire to achieve the department's vision and goal Physically fit to stand for long periods of time and lift 20kg regularly throughout a shift Your team and working environment: Work with a diverse and passionate team dedicated to creating lasting impressions on our guests by providing award-winning food.
