Te aheinga - The opportunity We are currently looking to expand our Infrastructure team with a proactive and dedicated Parking Supervisor who will play a key role in supervising our parking team and ensuring efficient parking management across the district. As a Parking Supervisor, you will lead the parking enforcement team, focusing on the supervision and operational management of parking services. This role is pivotal in supporting the council's objectives in traffic management and community service.
Supervision and leadership: To ensure the Parking team carry out their responsibilities in a safe, effective, professional manner and manage a roster to best utilize teamProvide technical leadership under the relevant legislation including but not limited to, Land Transport Act 1998, operative New Plymouth District Council Bylaws, Freedom Camping Act 2014, Reserves Act 1977, Local Government Act 2002 and the Health Act 1956Supervise performance of staff and ensure robust communication both within the team and across Council teams, promote ongoing development of staff and organise and support training opportunities. Ensure all service provided meets the Treaty of Waitangi principals and the bicultural policyStrong focus on leadership, continuous improvement and making a differenceFoster a positive work environment, encourage teamwork, and promote professional growthActively ensure that good employer obligations and legislative requirements are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislationOrganisational obligations, including familiarisation and compliance with organisational policies, Health and Safety responsibilities, Civil Defence and Emergency Management responsibilitiesBackup and support the team as needed on site when they carry out enforcement dutiesEnforcement activities: Lead the team where enforcement is likely to lead to court proceedingsPrepare documentation to support enforcement actionArrange for vehicle towing and relocations when necessaryRecord and maintain enforcement recordsLiaise with the police on incidents related to violationsMaintain consistent parking controls in the central business area and other urban streets throughout the New Plymouth districtPublic interaction and education: Function as an Ambassador of New Plymouth City when conducting traffic regulation. and other enforcement dutiesEducate the public on parking laws and regulationsProvide excellent customer service to parking customersProficient conflict resolution skills. Handle interactions with upset or angry customersAddress inquiries, resolve disputesProven experience in a leadership roleNational certificate or similar in statutory investigation and enforcement preferredPreparation of documents lodged in court-attendance at courtKnowledge of lawful procedures and Court proceduresProven track record in building strong stakeholder and team engagementA minimum of two years in Parking Services or in an enforcement or compliance roleSound knowledge of pertinent legislation such as, Land Transport Act 1998, operative New Plymouth District Council Bylaws, Freedom Camping Act 2014, Reserves Act 1977, Local Government Act 2002 and the Health Act 1956Valid full driver's licenceExcellent written and oral communication skillsA proven performance in customer service and response to enquiriesHe aha ai a Taranaki? - Why Taranaki?
