Palliative Care Specialist Nurse

The Nurse Maude Hospice Palliative Care Service provides specialised care and support for patients who have a life limiting illness using a multidisciplinary approach. Care is centred on the needs of patients and their families/whanau and embraces the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual elements of wellbeing - tinana, whanau, hinengaro and wairua - and aims to enhance quality of life.
We have a part-time (0.8FTE) position available for a Palliative Care Specialist Nurse (PCSN) to work in our community team.
He momo/About youThe key candidate would be a registered nurse with at least 4 years post registration experience, with a keen interest in palliative care and working towards a postgraduate qualification preferably in palliative care.
The successful applicant is required to have a comprehensive knowledge of palliative care and will be working alongside our multi-disciplinary hospice palliative care team and our primary palliative care district nurse providers, and general practice teams in the community.
Key to this role is supporting patients to meet their goals by providing excellent palliative care in the community. The successful candidate will have advanced assessment skills and be able to review patients with complex needs alongside the ability to build networks and excellent relationships with key stakeholders. The role will be well supported by the Hospice Palliative Care Specialist team. A current driving licence is required.
