In fact, we make 1 out of every 4 French fries in the world, so if you have eaten fries this week, there is a possibility they were ours.As a privately owned family company with over 65 years of experience, a presence in over 160 countries and a global team of 22,000 people, our values and culture are at the heart of everything we do.Our local farmers supply our Timaru plant with spuds which are then processed, packaged and leave as either french fries or chips ready for cooking and consumption.We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Packing crew overseeing the packing line and process, ensuring all is running smoothly, troubleshooting and seeking solutions when things aren't.We are a 24/7 operation, so the role works a rotating shift pattern: 2 x day shifts 7am - 7pm, then 2 x night shifts 7pm - 7am, then 4 consecutive days off.You will be working as a key member of a small team, so attendance at work is critical to ensure the plant is appropriately resourced.There is some manual handling of boxes required on occasion, and you are on your feet for several hours, so a reasonable level of fitness and strength is required.About the role:Operation and troubleshooting of key packing equipment including:Grading, weighing, baggingCase packing, taping, case codingPallet wrapping and labellingAccurate completion of quality and operations documentationEnsuring a clean environment and safe food handlingHazard identification and reportingAbout you:Hold good health and safety practices in the highest regardPrevious machine operation experience considered advantageousGood computer and data entry skillsStrong mechanical aptitudeGood communication skills and a sense of humour!A 'Can do' attitude, with a dose of initiativeThe ability to meet the physical and mental requirements of the roleWhat's in it for you?Starting rate of $28.83, with overtime paid at time ½Heavily discounted McCain products – frozen pizzas, wedges, chippies and vegesFully funded life & permanent disability insuranceAn additional week of paid leave after 1 year of serviceProfessional development opportunities, with rate increases subject to training completionMcCain Foods is an equal opportunity employer.
