Do you want to make a difference in the lives of whanau who experience homelessness? MASH Trust is an innovative leader of support services employing 550 people in the front-line who work across the social, mental health, and disability sectors across the Lower North Island.
The Outreach Officer supports whanau who experience homelessness and often present with complex needs to find pathways to wellbeing and housing.
You will work closely with housing and social service providers across the sector to lead a coordinated approach for people experiencing multiple housing barriers.
You will also coordinate weekly city outreach walks with these providers.
By utilising your outstanding connection skills, you will build trusting relationships that allow for people who are experiencing homelessness to discover and work towards their dreams and aspirations.

The Luck venue is a MASH run community space that anyone can visit for the purpose of social connection and wellbeing support.

Skills and Experience:Previous experience working with people who present with mental health distress, addiction, behavioural challenges, and homelessness.Guiding people/whanau through systems and working through potential barriers to promote access to the right resources.Promote the health and wellness of individuals, families / whanau, and communities; demonstrate an open-minded non-judgmental approach, and integrity.Knowledge of Tikanga Maori and a commitment to the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi.Knowledge of models of care and interventions for supporting people experiencing homelessness.Relationship management and partnership building.Culturally safe practice.Developing key pathways and links with the wider community.Safe and ethical practice with accountability for these outcomes.Understanding of housing and social support sector.MASH Trust is not an accredited Employer and therefore cannot use The Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) process.
