Ko te kaupapa | About the role
We provide a range of mental health and addiction services in the community, rural areas, and on our Whanganui Hospital campus. Our Mental Health and Addiction Services work in conjunction with primary health, mental health and addiction non-government organisations (NGOs), Kaupapa Maori services, and community agencies to ensure service users/tangata whaiora needs are met in all aspects of their lives.
Our work is strength-based and has a recovery approach based on promoting hope, supportive environments, self-responsibility, and self-determination while working within the legal and best practice guidelines for professional and New Zealand Health Service standards.
The role:
Work with service users/tangata whaiora, families/whanau, communities, management, clinical leaders, and multi-professional teams to ensure timely and safe service delivery.
Provide Opioid Substitution Treatment programme services for the WDHB Alcohol and Other Drugs Service.
Deliver quality care and services with and for service users/tangata whaiora, and their family/whanau, ensuring compliance with professional and organisational standards and legislative requirements.
Demonstrate registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and that your scope of practice enables you to undertake the duties of this position.
Possess a good knowledge of our community and the resources within it.
Exhibit a strong interest in and compassion for the lives and experiences of others.
Maintain composure in crisis situations.
Be a passionate and dynamic advocate for mental health.
Commit to the Te Tiriti o Waitangi/Treaty of Waitangi and Whanau Ora principles.
