The Role:Where you fit it Weare looking for a Full Time, 6 month (negotiable) contract consultant as an Otolaryngologistto join the Christchurch team in Canterbury. The contract will start in ASAP through to June 2024.
TheOtolaryngology Department at Christchurch Hospital provides a complete range ofsecondary and tertiary services to Canterbury and other areas in South Island,with a secondary referral population base of 550,000,tertiary referralpopulation base of 1 million. Services are provided on an inpatient, daypatient and outpatient basis and are integrated with the Audiology Department.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills: Qualificationsrequired: Specialist registrationin OtolaryngologyEligible for Provisional Specialist registration and current Annual MedicalPractising Certificate.Professionalmemberships required: Medical indemnityinsuranceExperiencerequired: Expertise in the fieldof general Otolaryngology.Post Fellowshiptraining/experience for a tertiary teaching centre, including anappropriate subspecialty interest. Currently an interest in Paediatric,Head and Neck and Rhinology surgery desirable.An ability to undertakeand organise undergraduate Otolaryngology teaching would also bedesirable.Other skills required: Beable to work under pressure and prioritise clinical workload.Excellentwritten and oral communication skills.Ateam approach to work in an environment that includes many disciplines;and a collaborative working relationship with management.Personal qualities required: Toembrace a team philosophy in the Department.Havea genuine empathy with patients, the general public and staff at alllevels.Bean innovative thinker, who can adapt to changes in medical practice.Becommitted to their personal and professional development, and to theprovision of patient focused servicesYou will need to be eligible to gainregistration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, to find out more pleasefollow this linkhttps://www.mcnz.org.nz/registration/ Thisposition provides additional support in outpatient clinics, surgical operatinglists, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
