Are you an Ophthalmologist looking for a new opportunity?We are looking for someone to join our service providing specialist secondary care services to the region. This fulltime (1FTE) position would be suitable for an experienced or a newly qualified specialist.The successful applicant will be a comprehensive ophthalmologist with a subspecialty interest. We are seeking a vitreo-retinal specialist although other subspecialty interests would be considered.The role will include:Local and subregional ophthalmic service provisionSupervision of registrarsTeaching of University of Otago Medical School Trainee InternsThe Senior Medical Officer (SMO) team currently comprises four experienced locally based consultant Ophthalmologists and one visiting consultant ophthalmologist.The wider eye service includes:Two registrars (one RANZCO vocational trainee)Ophthalmic clinic nurses (including extended practice roles)An orthoptistOphthalmic techniciansVisiting optometristsThe service provides specialist outpatient and inpatient ophthalmology services, and primary health care support.
