pro-rata (based on experience) + Kiwisaver.Mo te turanga | About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmic Assistant to join the Ophthalmology Outpatient Department at Dunedin Hospital.
This role offers a unique opportunity to support a multidisciplinary team, contribute to patient care, and work with sophisticated technology in a friendly and supportive environment.Key responsibilities include:Performing diagnostic tests such as visual field tests, OCT, and fundus photography.Administering eye medications, conducting eye measurements, and monitoring blood pressure.Providing patient education on pre- and post-operative care.Recording and managing patient medical histories and examination results.Supporting nurses and other healthcare professionals in clinic operations.Preparing and reconciling patient notes and stock for clinics, including injection clinics.Assisting with patient movement and supervision around the department.Occasionally traveling to rural centers to provide services as needed.If you are looking for a role that combines technical skills with patient care in a dynamic and rewarding environment, this is the opportunity for you!Mou ake | About You To be successful in this role, you will:Have a positive 'can-do' attitude and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.Be open to learning new skills and ways of working to improve service efficiency.Hold a Level 4 certificate in Digital Photography (or higher) or be working towards this qualification.Ideally have previous experience in an ophthalmic or clinical setting.Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong understanding of ophthalmic terminology and procedures.Demonstrate attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care.Be flexible with availability, as occasional weekend work and overnight travel may be required.Hold a full, clean driver's license.Mo matou | About Us Te Whatu Ora – Southern provides healthcare services to a diverse population of over 350,000 people across the largest geographical region in New Zealand.
