Mo tenei turanga - About the role:

Reporting to the Communications Centre Manager, the Operations Manager role provides leadership and managerial support to ensure that emergency events and dispatch of resources are delivered in an efficient, effective and time critical manner. You will be responsible for ensuring that operational readiness capability for the Communication Centre is always maintained for this 24-hour mission critical facility.

As a member of the National Communications Centre Leadership Team, you will oversee the day-to-day operational running of the Communications Centre including the ongoing development and management of all Communications Centre training.

When and as required, you will deputise for the Communications Centre Manager.

Demonstrated leadership skills to provide coaching, training, and mentorship.
An ability to build collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally, including other emergency service providers.
Strong communications skills, with an ability to influence and negotiate when/as required.
An ability to implement new operational processes and procedures and develop training for those.
A drive to deliver results and outcomes whilst promoting a positive culture of high performance.
Comfortable managing internal and external complaints/processes through sound investigation and reporting
Ensure response decisions meet the requirements of the Statements of Service Performance (SSPs)

To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will:
Be able to relate to the technology involved in emergency management communications and an understanding of the operations of an emergency service network.
Have demonstrated experience as an operational Shift Manager or similar within an emergency services environment.
Be a strong team player with a people first focus.
Hold relevant Senior Communicator/Shift Manager qualifications.
A relevant tertiary qualification in management and/or adult teaching, desirable but not essential

The salary range for this role is $118,660-$124,906 (95-100%) dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
