The opportunity As the Mount Operations Site Manager you will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Mt Maunganui site – the company's largest production and distribution facility. This role reports directly into the General Manager of Operations & Supply Chain and works in close synergy with the leaders across operational and supply chain leaders, and national support services across the Ballance group. While no two days are the same, your role responsibilities include: Production management of a high volume 24/7 processing facility producing superphosphate – the most common fertiliser used in New Zealand farming. Providing positive and professional leadership to your team of 87 staff including 7 direct reports. Your focus is on engagement and empowerment, building team capability through the attraction, retention and development of talented people operating in a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Commercial management – driving the process to ensure that business plans and budgets are developed, approved, managed, reviewed and reported upon. Foster a no compromise approach to Environmental, Health & Safety, promoting a culture where safety is a priority for everyone while also ensuring all relevant regulatory and compliance requirements are met. You will be a member of the National H&S Committee and have input into the company's H&S strategy. This role is also externally focused, where you will develop and maintain effective industry and community networks. What you bring to the role You're a confident team player who understands the responsibilities of the company and the seriousness of the role. You will be most suited to the role if you: Have outstanding people leadership skills; you are a talented leader, mentor, coach, negotiator, resolver of conflict, enabler. Be grounded in management and ideally have experience working in larger organisations where operational best practice has been a way of life. Have a background from within heavy industry plant, process and/or production environments. Be able to see the bigger picture, communicate the company vision and achieve buy-in from all parties. While this role is responsible for the Mt Maunganui site, taking a broader enterprise view is essential to achieve overall company objectives. Have a hands-on approach, operational insight, analytical ability and courage to challenge the status quo. Knowledge and experience in continuous improvement and change management. Ideally hold a relevant tertiary qualification: Engineering, Technology, Business.
