Position Description: Operations Manager
Direct Reports: Skip Truck Drivers
Reporting to: Lead Project Manager
Taranaki Skips & Bins Limited is a successful well-known skip bin hire company in the Taranaki and wider region. We have built the company on friendly customer service, efficient speedy pick-up and delivery of skip bins with competitive pricing. We are focused on expanding market share in the skip bin area and allied markets. We are looking for a talented, experienced and enthusiastic Operations Manager to lead this journey. The Current Operations Manager will be available for a short handover period.
Daily Tasks:
Creating driver daily run sheets of pickups/drop-offs – dispatching jobs
Working out the logistics for most efficient pickup/delivery of bins
Dealing with customer phone and online bookings for bins
Monitoring any overweight dumping charges to charge back to customers
Receiving payment for services and monitoring collection
Focus on marketing and networking to increase client base and increase revenue
Developing new opportunities for hiring out skips and bins
Following up on accounts
Role includes the following tasks:
Managing drivers and efficient route planning for jobs
Preparing/overseeing all bookings by customers
Keeping the Lead Project Manager fully informed
Ensuring that all customers have their bins in a timely manner
Ensuring all material is processed in a cost-effective manner
Identify new business and opportunities to drive growth and profitability
Drive the profitability and sustainability of the business
Hands on approach to acquire new clients and customers
Develop a network of contacts to attract new market opportunities
Marketing the business in a positive light to gain new business
Strong focus on long term value and customer satisfaction
Researching new innovative technology and more efficient ways of performing our services
Ensuring all staff are performing their roles safely and adhering to Health & Safety practices
Ensure all Trucks and Bins are serviced timely and well maintained
Reporting and analysis provided to Lead Project Manager in a timely manner
Keep the Lead Project Manager fully informed of all aspect of the operations and business in a transparent and no surprises environment
The ideal candidate:
Class 2 truck license would be an added advantage
Experience in the waste and recycling industry
Local knowledge of the area
Trustworthy and can work without supervision
Motivated to grow the business and expand market share
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (excel, word, outlook)
Attention to detail to invoicing and calculating overcharge amounts
Team player and working collaboratively with management who are remote
Strong focus on customer service and providing the best service
Has their finger on the pulse of everything going on within the business
