Location: Based at Sandford Depot, Hill Road BS25 5RJ
Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday to Friday
North Somerset Environment Company Ltd. (NSEC) works in partnership with North Somerset Council and delivers the following services:
Collecting recycling and waste from over 100,000 homes and commercial businesses across North Somerset and the wider area.
Managing Household Waste Recycling Centres at Backwell, Portishead and Weston along with two Waste Transfer Stations in Weston.
Maintaining 1,100km of North Somerset highways including surface repairs, winter maintenance, gully management, drainage and kerbing repairs, signage and line-marking, and 24/7 emergency response services.
HGV Driver and mobile plant training, vehicle servicing and maintenance, event cleaning and other environmental and highway maintenance specialisms to commercial businesses.
NSEC have recently been awarded this contract and the role will be pivotal in assuring the smooth mobilisation of the contract that launched in April 2024. An exciting opportunity has arisen at NSEC Highways supporting the continued growth of the business.
Job responsibilities:
Working as a member of the senior leadership team, you will have operational responsibility for the safe, efficient, and effective management of our new Highways Cyclical and Reactive Maintenance Contract with North Somerset Council. You'll deliver on the annual Winter Maintenance Plan, cyclical services e.g. gulley cleansing, and reactive maintenance such as pothole repairs and patching.
The ideal candidate will have:
Proven experience of managing or supervising highway maintenance operations.
Qualified operator with excellent working knowledge of Highways industry.
Motivated to deliver a strong zero-harm safety culture.
Proven record of delivering lean, continuous improvement within a service environment.
Excellent IT and organisational skills backed with good communication skills.
