**Job Description:**
American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Online Accountant to join our dynamic team in Dunedin, Otago. As a part-time entry-level accountant, you will provide essential support to our financial operations while assisting in maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency. **Key Responsibilities:**
- **Financial Record Management:**
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- **Reporting & Compliance:**
- Generate financial reports and summaries that will assist in decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with senior accountants to ensure compliance with regulations and accounting standards.
- **Data Analysis:**
- Analyze financial data and prepare detailed reports to provide insights into business performance.
- Assist in identifying financial discrepancies and formulating corrective actions.
- **Project Support:**
- Support various projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial audits, by gathering and analyzing relevant financial data.
- Participate in project meetings as needed, providing valuable financial insights and updates.
- **Team Collaboration:**
- Work closely with team members across departments to coordinate and streamline financial processes.
- Contribute positively to a team-oriented environment and assist in training new hires as necessary.
- **Customer Focus:**
- Maintain a strong dedication to understanding and exceeding customer expectations in all financial operations.
- Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders, addressing queries or concerns promptly.
**Requirements:**
- **Educational Background:**
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred; relevant certifications or coursework will be considered.
- **Experience:**
- A minimum of 1 year of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment or through internships.
- **Technical Skills:**
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Familiarity with financial management systems and reporting tools.
