Odour Panellist - Casual

Details of the offer

Watercare – Auckland airport, North Island
Flexible work opportunity - work 8 - 16 hours per week
Ki te ora te wai, ka ora te whenua, ka ora te tangata
When the water is healthy, the land and the people are healthy
Watercare, the largest water and wastewater utility in New Zealand, delivers more than 400 million litres of water to Auckland every day. Now is an exciting time to join Watercare; we're planning to spend $18.5 billion over the next 20 years to ensure we can continue to support our growing city in a climate-resilient way. That's an investment of $2.5 million every day.
It doesn't just stop there; we ensure that sustainability lies at the heart of everything that we do to help protect our water resources for future generations. This means we are continuously focused on how we can reduce our carbon footprint with initiatives like solar panels, electric cars, revegetation programmes, and much more. We are truly committed to making a positive difference.
Are you looking for casual/flexible work that will fit in with your lifestyle? This is a fabulous opportunity to work with a great team of people! This is a 'casual' role. Working in a team of 4-6 people, the odour panellists are required to be on-site at an agreed time when an odour panel is being conducted.
As part of a dedicated team that provides specialised air quality monitoring, the main function of the role is to undertake odour and flavour analysis on both air and water samples. You will be working in an IANZ-accredited sensory evaluation laboratory.
Odour panellists are trained and calibrated 'noses' who 'sniff' water and air samples, for example, air from a biofilter, and then score and record the types of smells they encounter. The wider air quality team then uses these results to create reports that are delivered to Watercare's customers.
You enjoy working in a team, and a casual role would suit your lifestyle. In addition to this, you have the following:
A keen sense of smell to meet the sensitivity criteria for an odour panellist.
The flexibility to work on a casual basis.
We offer a competitive hourly rate and staff benefits package including:
