We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Occupational Therapist in the MHSOP team to provide a mixture of Key Working and Occupational Therapy specific intervention.
The service provides for over 65 with serious mental health diagnoses, complicated dementias and for those under 65 with a diagnosis of early onset dementia.We will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to:A large portion of the caseload is working with people who are experiencing various types of dementia.
Interventions may include:Reviewing a client's function/ occupational performance and identifying any safety concerns in their place of residenceMaking recommendations to support or decrease identified issues while continuing to encourage the client to engage in meaningful activityProviding guidance on behavioural and environmental strategies to assist with behaviours of dementia, including advice and education to caregivers, rest homes and family around occupational performance issuesSupplying equipment to support independencePeriodic involvement in carer support groupsMinimum Requirements:Current Occupational Therapy Board registration and APC.At least two years' experience in inpatient and/or community-based mental health.Ability to work under pressure, be a good team player, demonstrate leadership skills and positively contribute to service delivery.Be prepared to travel across the Taranaki rohe to meet the needs of our people and have a willing, 'can do' attitude.We can offer you a welcoming and supportive environment with a team that is committed to ensuring you are successful in your role.
