Our team provides a range of inpatient and community-based health services for the community. This role will give you the opportunity to further your experience working across a wide range of specialties and advance your practical skills.To find out more about living and working here on the Coast visit West Coast Living.About the RoleAs an Occupational Therapist working in Mental Health, you will be responsible for providing assessment, education and treatment using a patient centred model of care for patients (all ages) inclusive of physical and mental health conditions.This role spans across our Manaakitanga Mental Health Inpatient Unit and our patients in the community giving a diverse and rewarding workload. Travel to other locations throughout the West Coast will be part of the role.What you'll do with your time:Assessment and treatment of Manaakitanga Mental Health inpatients with appropriate goal setting and outcome measuresSupport transition from inpatients into communityWork as an integral part of the inpatient & community inter-disciplinary teamsLiaising with all appropriate health professionals and other agencies to ensure we achieve the best outcomes for our patientsProviding education for the families/whanau and carers of our patients as necessaryAbout youWe are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist who has worked within a mental health scope of practice for at least 3 years to join our multi disciplinary team.It is essential that you have:Minimum 3 years working as a Mental Health Occupational TherapistThe ability to work effectively under pressureThe ability to be an effective team member, recognising the importance of team workThe ability to work independently, yet seek support when neededStrong communication skills and cultural awarenessYou must be flexible with excellent time managementCompetency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growthWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of Aotearoa/New Zealand.
