Physiotherapy, OT & Rehabilitation (Healthcare & Medical)Full timeRosehill is a large South Auckland specialist school for students aged 5 to 21. We are a multi-cultural school, 40% of our students are Maori and 50% have a diagnosis of Autism.We have a Base school with 11 classes, 12 satellite units in mainstream schools, and a transition unit. Driving between satellite units is part of this role, and you are paid a petrol allowance.We have a large therapy team including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Language Therapists, and a Psychologist.The role is varied and has a set caseload. Priorities are established with the class team and whanau based on students' needs, which are evaluated regularly to ensure they are being met. Therapists also work to support school-wide areas for improvement in line with strategic planning. The role involves working collaboratively with the class team, whanau, and therapists from other disciplines to ensure students are able to actively engage in the curriculum, all aspects of school life, and have opportunities to develop the skills needed to live as independently as possible.Upskilling and empowering classroom staff is a key aspect of this work. This may include training staff, running staff professional development sessions, presenting at parent morning teas, and to the community, as well as in-class training and coaching. Clinical documentation skills with the use of SOAP notes are integral to the role.The ideal applicant will:Have a strong interest in paediatrics and enjoy working with children with special needs.Have excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work as part of a team.Have a positive, flexible, 'can do' attitude.Interest in postural management and wheelchair and seating experience would be ideal.Have knowledge of sensory modulation, fine motor skills development, interactive approaches such as Floor-time, and how to support the development of independent living skills.We offer a friendly, positive working environment, induction programmes for those new to the area of work, professional development in line with strategic plans and student needs, and opportunities to develop strengths and interests.Remuneration is based on the Ministry of Education's Kaiarahi i te Reo and Therapists' Collective Agreement.Please contact Debbie Krzyzewski, Therapy Team Leader on 027 880 7582.Applications close on: 17/01/2025 at 4pm.
