Occupational Therapist - Community Consult / Liaison Team, IDOLS (Intellectual Disability)
Full-time Permanent position (1 FTE) Monday to Friday Point Chevalier About us: The Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Services (ARFPS), also known as the Mason Clinic, is the largest Forensic Mental Health Service in New Zealand. We serve the four Northern District Health Boards including all courts in the Northern region and four prisons. We deliver a comprehensive range of Forensic Mental Health Services, including secure inpatient acute and rehabilitation services which connect to community rehabilitation programmes, services for offenders with an intellectual disability, and culturally sensitive programmes for Maori.
Court liaison and prison mental health services, including a regional service to Northland Region Corrections Facility at Ngawha and Northland are also provided.
About the Role: An opportunity has arisen for an NZROT qualified Occupational Therapist to work in the Intellectual Disability Offenders Liaison Service (IDOLS). This is a consult / liaison team working in the community with people with an intellectual disability (ID) who have come into contact with the criminal justice system or who are currently under a community secure or supervised order under the IDCCR Act legislation.
The successful applicant would need to be able to work autonomously and also work cohesively within a small team. This would be an excellent opportunity for professional development and to experience a unique working environment. You will need to be flexible and possess strong clinical, interpersonal, and relationship skills.
About You: Requirements of this position include:
Ideally at least 3+ years' experience as an OT Occupational Therapy diploma / degree Registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand and a current APC Full driver's license Interested in the fields of intellectual disability / mental health and vocational rehabilitation.
