Mo te turanga - About the role The purpose of this position is to provide Occupational Therapy assessment and planned intervention within fast-paced acute inpatient wards at Dunedin Hospital to facilitate safe patient discharge back into the community.
You will work in one or more of the following areas: Cardiorespiratory General surgery Acute Orthopaedics and Neurosciences Medical and Acute Stroke Intensive Care Unit (ICU) This role will be covering Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and another area.
As an occupational therapist, you will have sound occupational therapy knowledge and skills, be a team player with excellent communication skills and work cohesively as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
You will be responsible for assessing the client's occupational performance needs and assisting in their journey through the hospital.
You will be able to think on your feet, be experienced at working under pressure and be able to multi-task.
You will be adaptable and flexible allowing you to work effectively with your clients and within the interdisciplinary team and a changing health environment.
Mou ake - About you The successful applicant will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have a proactive approach towards learning.
Self-motivation, a flexible attitude, and a keen drive to work as an integral team member are essential.
You will provide assessment and treatment for a variety of patients on a one-to-one basis and or in a group setting, working alongside teams of health-care professionals to deliver quality patient care and service delivery.
To be considered for this role you will need to have a minimum of 2 years clinical experience, be registered with the New Zealand Occupational Therapy Board and hold a current Annual Practicing Certificate.
You must hold a full, clean driver's licence.
Strong understanding of social determinants of health and the impact this has on client health, occupational performance and social needs.
