Our purpose-driven approach focuses on community development and addressing health inequalities.Job DescriptionAbout the Occupational Health and Safety Advisor roleManage comprehensive safety programs prioritising the wellbeing of staff and volunteers, build impactful occupational health and safety (OHS) campaigns to enhance awareness and prevent workplace injuries, and foster a positive, proactive culture within community health that encourages open communication and collaboration among all team members.Reporting to the Manager - Quality, Risk & Safety, this is a fixed-term part-time role available from 21 October 2024 to 30 June 2025, offering 19 hours per week (0.5 FTE).Your Passion and Commitment will see you:Provide expert guidance, coaching, and training to managers, staff, and volunteers on occupational health and safety practices, systems, and processes to enhance safety culture.Develop and implement OHS campaigns aimed at improving safety awareness and preventing workplace injuries.Conduct comprehensive safety audits and recommend actionable improvements to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards and best practices.Maintain accurate OHS-related documentation, including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and emergency equipment records, while liaising with external stakeholders on relevant OHS matters.Foster a supportive and inclusive workplace culture that encourages open communication and continuous improvement in safety practices.To succeed in this role you will have:Tertiary qualifications in occupational health and safety or a related field.Comprehensive knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and regulations, particularly in the community health or development sector.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach, train, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.Proven experience in incident investigation, risk prevention programs, and safety audits, with a focus on continuous improvement.Excellent data analysis and reporting skills, ensuring accurate monitoring of safety performance and compliance.For further information about this role, please refer to the position description (available via the YourCH Careers Hub).YourCH has fostered an organisation-wide supportive and diverse team that allows staff to bring their whole self to work, both personally and professionally.
