Mo te tunga About the role Christchurch women's hospital is a busy tertiary referral centre with approximately 6000 deliveries per year incorporating a feto-maternal medicine department as well as a large gynaecology service.
We have a largely generalist population of Senior Medical Officers who provide cover for our service and are also the regional referral centre for Gynaecology Oncology for the South Island.
We are a training centre for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RANZCOG) and have a complement of both training and non-training registrars within our service.
Nga pukenga me nga wheako Skills & Experience We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Medical Officer to complete our team covering the services of both Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
We are looking for a Permanent Obstetrics & Gynaecology Medical Specialist 1.0 FTE with a full on-call component.
You will partake in the general duties of the department including providing inpatient care and undertaking clinics such as general antenatal, high risk pregnancy and colposcopy as well as acute gynaecology services as required. We are looking for a clinician with a strong Obstetric focus who can further develop their skills within areas of special interest for example early pregnancy, preterm birth and high-risk obstetrics.
Given our strong focus on patient and whanau centred care there may also be a need and an opportunity to provide some outreach clinics as part of our work to enable whanau to access care closer to home in sites such as Kaikoura, Rolleston and Rangiora.
Although this role does not include access to a regular elective gynaecology operating session there are opportunities to undertake procedural gynaecology including the acute gynaecology list and expertise in outpatient colposcopy and hysteroscopy is welcomed.
